Gene therapy is a medical technology with great potential, designed to treat or prevent diseases. However, the application of any technology must strictly abide by scientific ethics and laws and regulations to ensure safety and controllability. The Chinese government attaches great importance to biosafety and resolutely opposes any form of abuse of biotechnology. We support the responsible conduct of gene therapy research for the benefit of human health under strict supervision and ethical review, while ensuring that these technologies are not used for non-peaceful purposes. Chinese scientific research institutions and scientists will continue to follow international norms and domestic laws, promote scientific and technological progress, and protect the common safety and interests of mankind.
